BU History
GES has a more then 30 years of experience in water desalination.
GES took its first steps in the desalination field in 1977, building the first Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) facility in Eilat, Israel, for the National Water Company, "Mekorot". The capacity of the Plant, which is still in operation, is 440,000 M3/year.
GES' desalination activity reached new heights when it became a partner in the Palmachim Desalination Plant which was initially built with a production capacity of 30 million M3 per year at May 2007 and has since increased its capacity to 45 million m3/year in April 2010. The Palmachim Desalination plant has been continuously and successfully in operation since its commissioning in 2005. Retrofits were made in order to increase the efficiency of the energy regime and to reduce the Plant's ecological foot print.
During 2010, GES' Desalination Business Unit (DBU) has been created to transfer the knowledge GES has acquired in treating water using advanced desalination methods and technologies. GES' DBU offers its client economically viable solutions that conform to the most stringent international standards. GES offers maximum availability, cutting-edge technology, and incomparable quality.
